The second season of Slow Horses picks up immediately where the first left off, as the downtrodden spies of Slough House become embroiled in a whole new mystery. The suspicious death of a retired agent sets Jackson Lamb and his team onto a winding investigation. While Lamb chases leads, River Cartwright is investigating an apparent sleeper agent plot, and the crew has ensnared themselves in a protest-tainted, possibly terroristic mess with ties to some shady Russian oligarch.
They soon start digging deeper, and it reveals some shocking connections, along with a traitor from MI5. The season rounds off in a race against time and a tense standoff that culminates in a cliffhanger, leaving Slough House dealing with the consequences of what they discovered. Diana Taverner is the Deputy Director General of MI5, played by Kristin Scott Thomas in Slow Horses. She doesn’t really feature as a character in the daily goings-on at Slough House but acts as a higher echelon of MI5, which frequently takes a dim view of Slough House.
